Devon Dunkle

Where I’m from or my alma mater:

I grew up in Palm Harbor, FL (near Tampa) and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in psychology and a minor in marketing.

My position at IMS:

Membership Coordinator

My job responsibilities:

I help coordinate the yearly FPA conference and editorial contests, and provide support for FloridaPublicNotices.com. I also field questions about FPA membership and assist in the dues billing process.

My professional background and/or greatest accomplishment:

I have varied experience in several industries, including nonprofit, media, and marketing.

Some of my favorite living things (people, pets, sports teams, actors, musicians, etc):

My cats! My fiancé and I have two: a sweet, mild mannered lady named Sylvia and her wacky, tireless sister Pangur Ban. They’re best friends and love to play with catnip mice, eat anything that smells even halfway edible, and fall asleep on your lap when you have things to do.

Some of my favorite non-living things (movies, books, places, etc):

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and have even played Quidditch in a tournament! So I would say that my first edition Harry Potters are some of my favorite things that I own.

Someone I admire and why:

I admire so many people! Anyone that can keep a positive attitude through hard times or frustration, anyone that is an absolute expert or master at what they do, and anyone that has boundless passion and energy for what really matters to them.

My goals for 2014 (personal and/or professional):

Professional: Since I just started a new job, my goals are to learn as much as I can about the Florida Press Association, and to master all of the details of my job. Personal: I just want to get through my April wedding!

One thing people should know about me:

I’ve been a vegetarian for five years now, and the only meat that I still crave is Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Yum!

An interesting thing about me

I’m an aspiring novelist, and am currently working on outlining the plot of my first novel. Yes, it’s about magic and witches. How did you guess?
